City of Helsinki - Lecture hall occupancy rates

The City of Helsinki has several shared-use facilities, but there is no reliable information on their occupancy rate. There is a high demand for school and educational facilities, so the city wants to ensure that they are used as efficiently as possible. "Our aim is to promote the efficient use of learning environments," says Marjo Kenttälä, project manager. Supersight has been monitoring the occupancy rates in the lecture halls at Stadin AO and the results have been 10-12% occupancy in the monitored facilities.

University of Helsinki - Building Occupancy rate

Since the building was completed in 2004, university teaching has changed and it is no longer necessary to use all the traditional teaching spaces in the same way. Occupancy varies significantly from month to month, peaking at a weekly average of 26% in 2024, with single hour occupancy peaking at 39%.
