In The Untangling People Flow research project is measured building utilisation rates. By generating accurate people flow data, we enable the optimisation of space utilisation, thereby reducing costs and emissions. The built environment accounts for 40% of global energy emissions and 50% of raw materials. The research provides critical tools for addressing these environmental challenges.
In the first phase, we measure the utilisation rates of the Exactum building and Unicafe Chemicum. We are seeking for volunteers to test a mobile app that will show these utilisation rates in real time with a one minute delay. It will be particularly handy to find out if the Unicafe Chemicum is busy on the way to the lunch break! If you are part of University of Helsinki organisation, use an Android phone on a daily basis in Kumpula Campus and would like to participate in the testing, please contact william.hammersley@supersight.fi.
